The Bitter Taste of Victory
The Continent of Estrelesse
The Anatolian city of Poryphra, before the fall of the Sholai.
Located in the heart of the Thalassic Ocean, the mountainous continent of Estrelesse juts itself out as a granite objection to the thundering waves. Rocky, isolated, and in places utterly desolate, Estrelesse cuts a grim profile to any who seek her shores. While it is true that the continent's extremities are dominated by sheer, jagged rock faces, bitter tundras, and swarming fens, the peoples that have taken root in the few fertile river valleys and scarce grasslands are hardy and strong. Civilization has carved out a place for itself in Estrelesse, and within the shadows of its cities and walls, one can find a degree of peaceful living.
Though empires large and small have come and gone, the unquestioned superpower of the present day is the sprawling Latona Republic. A crusading, humanocentric magocracy, the Latona conquer in the name of their March of Purity, excising from the world the perceived corruption of sorcery, witchcraft, and beings from outside the Material Plane. Their Domestic Enforcers, or "Silvercloaks," purge illicit arcana and hunt down rebellious influences. The Latona rule by spell and steel—and also the might of the monstrous creatures they slave to their wills by unknown means.
